I feel like complex systems is the class Ive always imagined as the ideal class to take or subject to learn, but from this video I hope I never try to learn this faster than just my own pace. That or its not one instructor and many students instead many instructors and me I could probably pull that off.

In 2020, the total global electricity generation for the entire year was approximately 27,000 terawatt-hours (TWh) ¹. To put that into perspective, if all roads were covered in solar panels, it could generate around 233,600 TWh of electricity per year, which is roughly 8.6 times the total global electricity generation in 2020 ¹. So easily have electric vehilces

Hobbes was full of shit. I've been studying Anthropology for years and humans would only be naturally in a state of war if there was resource scarcity, which wasn't often the case in prehistoric societies that hadn't had a chance to destroy local ecosystems. Now that might be the case but that's not how we are NATURALLY

The unbreakably scarce and immutable nature of bitcoin means that governments cannot stop it. Additionally, if one government is to ban it for it's citizens, all governments who do the opposite and become more involved stand to benefit more greatly as they will get involved in a scarce, fixed supply asset before the prior. This is why all governments and institutions who do the research to understand bitcoin will make the only game theoretically beneficial choice in their own self interest: to build a treasury of it.

Interesting work. I've been following this channel since it was called Complexity Labs, around 6-7 years ago. The videos on youtube are great for learning. It would be nice to cite books, literature, authors, too. Systems thinking was the thought of the 20th century and is very important to understanding the world today.

In a hierarchical system, power and decision-making authority are concentrated at the top, with a few individuals or entities holding most of the control. This top-down approach can lead to inefficiency, lack of accountability, and resistance to change. Now, imagine a pyramid where decisions flow from the top down. If something goes wrong at the top, it can take a long time for feedback to reach the decision-makers, and even longer for corrective action to be taken. This delay can result in problems being overlooked or exacerbated, leading to inefficiency and waste. On the other hand, in a decentralized system, power and decision-making authority are distributed among many individuals or entities, often organized in a network. This bottom-up approach allows for greater flexibility, adaptability, and resilience. Think of a decentralized network like a web, where nodes are connected to each other in multiple ways. If something goes wrong in one part of the network, the problem can be quickly identified and addressed by other nodes, minimizing the impact and preventing systemic failures. In summary, hierarchical systems fail at sustainability because they are rigid, slow to adapt, and prone to centralized control. Decentralized systems, on the other hand, are more resilient, agile, and responsive to change, making them better suited for sustainability in the long run.
